We're all crazy about The Great British Bake Off, and what better way to celebrate with this inspired make from Alex Turner. Alex shows us how she created this fabulous project using the Gingerbread Man Mini Die from Xcut which can be purchased from http://www.hobbybase.co.uk/gingerbread-man-cutting-die-set.html

Christmas Baking Recipe

  1. Mount a piece of gold pearl card on to a 7x7 inch Kraft card base.
  2. Attached a piece of pattern paper cut to 6 ¾” x 4”. I have used Dovecraft 8x8 Glad Tidings paper stack.
  3. Add some ribbon, also from Dovecraft and tie an extra piece to form the bow.
  4. Cut a piece of silver pearl card to 5”x3 ½”, round the corners with a corner punch, and scored at ½” on each side
  5. Die cut the Gingerbread Man in bronze pearl card and also in white card. Use the white pieces to fill in the eyes, nose, mouth and piped detail on his arms and legs. Also cut the little buttons and bow tie.
  6. Repeat twice more until you have 3 Gingerbread Men. Attach all 2 to your baking tray, adding the bow ties and buttons as you go.
  7. Attach the baking tray to the front of your card and add the sentiment and embellishments of your choice. I have used X-Cut Seasonal Sentiments in the same card as the baking tray.

In this little project, Lesley shows us how she created this delightful birthday card using Dovecraft's Happy Birthday mini die which is available here: http://www.hobbybase.co.uk/happy-birthday-tag-steel-cutting-die.html

  1. I chose a blank card for this I picked a 15 x 15 cm square scalloped white card. Love white it's so clean and fresh,  not adverse to little in Inking around edges but not today.
  2. I chose a lovely fairy picture topper by hunkydory as feeling the fairy theme today. As this is green and was using daisy die I liked the matching of daisy's fairys and green  . I picked out a green backing card and pink go with the butterfly's on the picture.
  3. Cut 5 daisies from green card, 5 white daisies from white card and cut of their heads poor daisy's but wanted these for adding depth. I then added a bit of faber castell polychrome pencil dark naples ochre to middles and petals.
  4. Then cut 2 of the happy birthday Tag dies 1 in each of the matting colours.
  5. Matted up and layer white card blank then green card mat finished with pink mat. Then placed my fairy to Hunkeydory topper at an angle. I then shaped around the point that it stands on to match scolloped card.
  6. Place the daisy's on mounting foam pads and glued the white heads on top. Added the two die cut happy birthday tags together threaded a ribbon through and the added mounting foam to back. Placed to one side.
  7. Added rhinestone's to flowers and edges.
