Debbie shows you how to get started with layering stamps and getting great results every time

You use the base layer first, this gives a solid colour and then you stamp the top detailed layer. I found that the best result combination was to stamp the lightest ink colour first, I used pigment Inks in pink. Pigment inks inks give a wonderful crisp result.  Distress Inks will give a smudgy distressed look for a different effect. Any pigment  ink in two varying shades would work just as well.

Tip! You can use a white pigment ink over your existing ink to give a lighter gradient. Just stamp you colour you want then once dried stamp over again with white and this will alter the shade. Wait for that to dry then stamp again with the colour, it creates a two tone effect.

I used my stamping tool to get accurate stamping results but any acrylic block will work these stamps are not difficult to line up. Play around to get different effects.  I found the distress inks for the leaves worked well.  If you want to cut out your stamped flowers, I like to leave a small white edge to give a more professional look but that’s just my preference.

Shabby Chic Wedding Card Project

I wanted a modern wedding card with a traditional floral twist, so I wanted to incorporate Kraft card, embossing and stamping for this design.

I started with a 6 x 6 Kraft Card base and embossed it using my X-cut Embossing Frame Folder, which created a subtle lace effect border, perfect for this look.  I then created the focal sentiment using Craft Artist ( it’s a design editing tool, but you could equally create this in Word using different fonts then printing them out onto card ).

Now the good bit… the layered stamps.  I used Tonic Essentials  Bunched Bouquet Layered stamps and stamped them with my stamping tool,  which is an very inexpensive way to get great stamped images every time.   I stamped several of the flowers on to stamping card and using pigment inks in a range of different colours.  Then stamped the leaves with distress inks, in two shades of green.  I cut them out by hand leaving a little white edge.

I then arranged them around the sentiment on foam pads for dimension and added some gems.  I hope you agree that this makes a lovely shabby chic modern wedding card perfect for a summer wedding.
