Ever wondered how to get the most out of your stamps to achieve the perfect stamped image every time?

You can do such a lot with polymer and rubber-stamps. I always look at a stamp to see in what way it can be used to the greatest advantage, sometimes it's just another way of using a favourite stamp. I would like to share with you a variation I used with the set of "For the Love of Stamps, Noah's Ark". I decided instead of stamping and masking straight onto the card that I would stamp, colour and cut-out all the animals then put everything together giving a 3-D effect.

Firstly I always use good card stock so my images don't bleed, Neenah Solar White is my go to choice because it works brilliantly. When using alcohol markers I always stamp with MEMENTO Tuxedo Black Inkpad which is water based and doesn't bleed. If I were using watercolour I would use a water colour card and VERSAFINE onyx black which is an oil based Ink pad and wouldn't bleed with water.

Noah's Ark Card Project

I stamped the waves onto the card and a post it note, cutting out the stamp on the note I attached it matching up the waves on my card and stamped the boat overlapping the note. When I removed the post-it note the boat was sat behind the waves. Stamping the top part of the Ark just above the boat leaving a bit of a gap gave me a bit more room for Noah and the animals. I coloured and cut the ark out with a circle die and matted and layered with two more circle dies in contrasting colours. I also cut an 8" circle out to fold and use as a rocker base.

After colouring and cutting all my animals out, I decided on which to use, they were all so cute but I couldn't get them all onto the boat. I shaped their faces with a ball stylus to make them stand out, I then picked the best combination and filled the Ark with as many as I could, I used 3D glue gel to stick them into place. The ones I had left are used as an embellishment on the front of my card. I mounted the topper with 3D foam onto the rocker base and added a sentiment.

Cleaning your Stamps

To keep my stamps in good condition I always clean with a wet wipe or water if water based ink is used or stamp cleaning solution if it is oil based ink, leaving to air dry before you put them away is also a good idea.
